C Squared Ciders to Release Cousteau, a New Barrel-Aged Cider (Nov. 24)

The wait is over! Denver-based C Squared Ciders has announced the release of Cousteau, the first cider from its high-end, barrel-aged Sailor Series.

Cousteau will exclusively debut at a release party at 4 p.m. on Black Friday, November 24. The party will rage on with plenty to see and do at C Squared’s cidery at 2875 Blake Street in Denver. You’ll be able to sip Cousteau (plus more) in the on-site tasting room, The Rackhouse, which overlooks both the cidery and Bierstadt Lagerhaüs Brewery.

And if you miss the release party, no worries! Bottles will be available at select liquor stores throughout Colorado and Minnesota beginning the following week, and also on draft at select bars and restaurants in Colorado.

Cousteau is a French-American hybrid cider made with Newtown Pippin and French Bittersweet apples. Wild yeast strains were added before a slow fermentation and aging for over seven months in American and French oak barrels. The result is a crisp, tart and dry cider with aromas of stone fruit and a hint of toasted oak, allowing the cider to stand alone or pair perfectly with any meal.

Since July 2015, C Squared has been producing and distributing its award-winning Siren Series, which includes American-style ciders, with an emphasis on balance and drinkability. “The Sirens were developed with the intention of appealing to a wide array of craft drinkers, whereas the Sailor Series will fit the demand for a more esoteric and boutique category of cider,” says sales manager, Eric Hatlestad.

Future ciders from the Sailor Series will only be released when properly aged and at the height of perfection. Stay tuned!
