The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (August 25–31)

Happy Friday to all of you dedicated Cider Culture fans! It is the final week of August and, somehow, September is right on our doorsteps. I’m sure I can speak for everyone out there when I say that this summer flew by! How are you spending your final days of summer?

We are celebrating the end of the workweek the only way we know how — with a brand-new version of The Double Tap List, our curated roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content that we discovered on Instagram over the past seven days. This Labor Day weekend is chock-full of great events, so clear your schedules! On tap this weekend is a much-anticipated grand opening, peach festivals, and upcoming cider weeks!

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from August 25–31:

Weed Orchards & Winery

Peach-lovers know that late-summer is the time for peach festivals. This Labor Day weekend, join fellow peach fanatics at a festival you won’t want to miss. Located two hours north of New York City, Weed Orchards & Winery is hosting its very own Peach Festival, and the variety of peachy goodness will be more than you can handle! Are you hungry? Good, because there will be peach pie, peach salsa, and even peach bacon pizza (you had me at bacon) available to help prep your hungry bellies for the best part of the festival: the peach hard cider! Don’t get me wrong, peach wine slushies, you still have a special place in my heart! Come enjoy some live music as you kick back in the beer garden. There will be face painting, games and prizes, so bring the whole family.

Oktoberfest Portland via Woodchuck Hard Cider

There is a HUGE event coming up Saturday, September 8, that you all need to know about. The day is slated to be a big one in Portland, Maine, as the city kicks off its inaugural Oktoberfest Portland. The event will be held at Thompson’s Point and will host 40+ brewers and cider makers, including Woodchuck Hard CiderAngry Orchard and Downeast Cider will also be on deck to serve up some of their cider goodness. Bring your appetite, because there will be some amazing food to dive into, including fare from Pinky D’s Poutine Truck. Find tickets here.

Bryants Cider

This weekend marks the grand opening of the much-anticipated Bryants Cider tasting room! Come out and visit the Bryants Cider crew this Saturday and Sunday, from noon to 9 p.m., to celebrate this grand occasion! Located in Roseland, Virginia, this family-friendly cidery will have lots of fun for all ages this weekend, including live music, games, and of course, plenty of cider! If you like cornhole and giant Jenga, Bryants Cider has it! Mario Kart (yes, I am serious!) will also be available for your enjoyment. Food vendors will be on site, including 151 BBQ and Little Hat Creek Farm. For more information, see here.

Northwest Cider Association

Washington Cider Week is right around the corner, are you ready for it? The 8th Annual Cider Week in the great state of Washington is brought to you by the Northwest Cider Association. It’s an 11-day celebration of all-things-craft-cider, beginning on Thursday, September 6. Tap takeovers, dinner pairing menus and  a cider summit are just some of the events cider lovers can look forward to. Be sure to check out the Snake Bite Showdown on Thursday, where Portland Cider, Locust Cider, Seattle Cider Company and Elemental Hard Cider will square off all week long to determine who makes the best Snake Bite! I don’t like snakes, but I do enjoy a great Snake Bite! Go here to view the full list of events.

Hemly Cider

From all of us here at Cider Culture, we would like to wish our fellow dog-lovers and their pooches a Happy National Dog Day! Last Sunday, August 26, marked the annual day, but in our eyes, every day is a day to celebrate our furry friends. We encourage you to celebrate your pups by giving back the love they give you every day. Consider donating or volunteering at your local animal shelter or animal rescue group. Blankets, food, treats, and hugs are always welcomed by any animal in need. Join us and California’s Hemly Cider and give your pup an extra hug tonight!

BONUS!!

This is me on Friday afternoons. I appreciate her attempt at fully embracing that barrel. @brooklynciderhouse
