The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (Dec. 9–15)

Happy Friday, fellow #ciderlovers, and Happy Hanukkah! All of us here at Cider Culture are really feeling the merriment that this season always brings!

The arrival of Friday means a new version of The Double Tap List, our roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content on Instagram. The #ciderworld has been full of activity this week, with winter events, cider wins and holiday lights. Check out some of our favorites from December 9–15:

Looking for something to do this Saturday in SoCal? Head on over to Twisted Horn Mead & Cider to try its new cider, Crimson Frost. At 6.9% ABV, this refreshing off-dry cider is made with lingonberries (you know, those berries you always see in Ikea food!), added to freshly pressed apples. Stop in to get your growler filled with this seasonal treat!

Fly Creek Cider Mill & Orchard

Have you ever tried wassail? If you haven’t, you are missing out on one of the best English Christmas traditions, derived from the Old English phrase “Waes hael,” meaning “good health.” Sharing a cup of delightful mulled cider has become a community event. It’s Wassailing Weekend at Flying Creek Cider Mill near Cooperstown, New York. Come indoors and enjoy a tasty hot mulled cider as you escape the brisk upstate winter. The event runs from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Fishing Creek Cider Co.

Watch out, everyone: Fishing Creek Cider Co. has its eye on the prize for next year’s Mill Chill Brewery Throwdown! Winning 5th place for both the men’s and women’s teams respectively, Fishing Creek is gunning for 1st place next year. Fishing Creek’s hand-crafted cider (which they call “champagne from apples”)  is made with high quality North Carolina fruit. Interested in trying their cider? Head here to find a retailer near you.

Brooklyn Cider House

Big news! Brooklyn Cider House is open in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, NY! Its doors opened on December 14, and people (including The New York Times, no big deal) are excited. Owner Peter Yi is channeling the influence of Basque Country in Spain and tapping cider directly from barrels and is offering a menu with strong Spanish roots. We wish Brooklyn Cider the best with this new venture!

Look at that keg tree! Well done, Honest Abe — we are legit impressed!

Does your cidery have a great Christmas-lights display? If you want to show off your company’s illuminated masterpiece, tag @samanthastory and @ciderculture in your Instagram post and you might get a chance to be featured in next week’s Double Tap List!
