The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (April 7-13)

It’s a bad day to be a camper at Camp Crystal Lake, #ciderfriends! Happy Friday the 13th (ch ch ch ch… ah ah ah ah)! No matter how you feel about this superstitious day, Friday the 13th is still better than Monday the whatever!

The arrival of Friday means we’ve got a brand-new version of The Double Tap List for you, our weekly roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content on Instagram. It’s been another happening week in the #ciderworld, friends, with National Pet Day, cider for a cause, and creepy movies!

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from April 7-13:

Seattle Cider Company

If you happen to be in the area of Langley, WA the weekend of April 20-22, you are in for a treat. Seattle Cider Company is sampling their wares during the weekend event. How could you not be tempted: Just take a look at some of these ciders! Winesap Rose? Yes, please! Basil Mint — don’t mind if I do! The Basil Mint is fermented with fresh basil and mint, which just drips with refreshing spring vibes! Check out some more of Seattle Cider Company’s amazing cider varieties. Two words: Tangerine. Turmeric.

Atlanta Hard Cider

This week got so much better because Thursday, April 12th was National Pet Day! Whether you are a dog-lover, cat-lover, or even a reptile-lover (maybe no snakes!?!…), we can all agree that our pets are our family. Meet two members of Atlanta Hard Cider’s family — Benji the dog, and Cooper the cat. These two cuties are a part of Atlanta’s newest local cidery. Atlanta Hard Cider has a lot in store for 2018, including a cider production facility and tasting room. They currently have their flagship cider available, Crisp Apple, a slightly sweet, crisp and refreshing cider. You definitely want to check out Atlanta’s Hard Cider Instagram feed for more cute pics of Benji and Cooper hamming it up, and for the cidery’s latest updates.

Downeast Cider House

A whole lot of fun will be happening on May 5th, all for a great cause! Downeast Cider House will be at the Trenton Road Takeout Bottle Shop in Fallsington, PA, along with Lord Hobo Brewing, to help support It’s a Ruff Life Rescue of the Greater Philadelphia region. From 12:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m., the Downeast Cider team will be sampling some of their goods for the lucky crowd, while guests can meet all of the pets available for adoption! So bring your cider game, your appetite and get ready to meet your next fur-ever friend. The event is open to all two and four-legged friends. For more on It’s A Ruff Life Rescue, click here.

Honest Abe Hard Cider & Mead

You’ve got to give it to Honest Abe Hard Cider & Mead, they do host some pretty funny Friday movie nights! Just in time for Friday the 13th, they will be showing the cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space. For those of you not familiar with this movie, allow me to help pair some of my favorite moments in the movie with some of Honest Abe’s delicious offerings. Start the movie off right with a glass of Local Honey cider, let the smoothness mellow you out before the B-rated action of this thriller begins. Enjoy watching the sorry saps in the movie being wrapped up in cotton candy cocoons with a pour of the Pineapple Cider. The sweet notes of the pineapple will help give you a feel for the saccharine traps the characters have just been enveloped within. For my favorite part, the shadow puppets, ask for a glass of the ‘Pulp Fiction’ Orange to really ride out this action scene right! Enjoy!

There are moments that I like to take a step back from my normal humor and recognize the good, honest work that I am seeing in the cider community. Blake’s Hard Cider, in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign, has created a cider with a purpose: Rainbow Seeker, is a pineapple and sage cider that was created with intent — to build an awareness and show support for LGBTQ community. Blake’s has pledged to donate $40,000 in 2018 to HRC, an organization that works to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer equality. Rainbow Seeker will be available on May 1st. Well done, Blake’s Hard Cider!
