The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (March 3–9)

Friday is finally here, #ciderlovers! Who is happy the weekend is upon us?! **Raises hand**

The arrival of Friday means we’ve got a funky fresh new version of The Double Tap List, our roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content on Instagram. It’s been a busy week in the #ciderworld with openings, new releases and International Women’s Day!

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from March 3–9:

Accomplice Brewery and Ciderworks

Have you ever had a fresh churro … I’m talking one that is still warm and smothered with cinnamon and sugar? Watch out, doughnuts, there is a new fried pastry in town trying to win my heart! I can only imagine that this is exactly what Accomplice Brewery and Cidery‘s Churro Cider will taste like! Its new release will only be available during the Ft. Lauderdale Taco Battle and Craft Beer Fest on Saturday, April 14th. (I assume no one loses in such a battle, since it involves tacos.) From 1–6 p.m., be sure to just hang out the entire time at the Accomplice Brewery and Ciderworks stand, so you can hog all of the amazing sweet cider, made with brown sugar, hazel and vanilla. I think it’s safe to say they will have a line of thirsty, doughnut-loving people the entire afternoon. Interested in this event? Get your tickets here!

Kings Mill Cider

Oh, Canada! There was some great news for our northern neighbors’ cider scene this week, with the upcoming opening of Kings Mill Cider in Stirling, Ontario! Kings Mill will be hosting its Grand Opening on Saturday, April 14th. From 4–8 p.m., guests can enjoy free tastings of sweet cider for the kids and hard cider samples for the adults! Enjoy some great live bluegrass music as you take in the beautiful spring day with some great drinks. Kings Mill Cider is a family-run small production cidery and they pride themselves on making quality cider with premium apples. Congratulations and welcome to the community, Kings Mill!

Garage D’Or Ciders

It’s time to play “Guess the B-Movie”! I’ll give you a couple of hints: This one was made in 1996, it is a Tim Burton movie, and it is still one of my favorites! If you guessed Mars Attacks, you would be correct! Garage D’Or Ciders sought out some 90’s inspiration when creating its 2018 Sazerac Cider. Talk about an interesting combination! This cider mixes the awesomeness of apples with the real kick of a classic cocktail. There is not much info on this cider to be found just yet, but I would love to try this, even if I have to drive all the way to Ontario to get some. If you’ve tried it, let us know what you think!

Brooklyn Cider House

From all of us at Cider Culture, Happy International Women’s Day to every woman who helps to make the cider industry amazing! Brooklyn Cider House was a part of a great event on Tuesday, March 6, celebrating women in beer. This event honored women in all aspects of the craft beverage industry, from brewers and fermenters, to owners and managers. How exciting! Among the companies that came to represent at this event were Kelso Brewing, Citizen Cider and Kuka Brewing. All taps at Draught 55 in Midtown Manhattan were taken over by these and many more women-run beer and cider companies. We raise a glass to these amazing women. Continue to do the great work you do every day!

Honest Abe Hard Cider & Meadery

Does anybody need to get their Michael Douglas fix this weekend? Great news, Honest Abe Cider is here to help! To really kick off your weekend on the right foot, Honest Abe will be hosting a movie night, Friday, March 9. Playing on the big screen will be Romancing the Stone, a 1984 action/chick flick about adventure, and Michael Douglas looking good in a cut-off shirt. The best part is that it is FREE PIZZA FRIDAY! Get to Honest Abe’s by 6:30 p.m. to be guaranteed a free slice. Grab a glass of cider while you sit back for a cozy night. If you manage to snag a slice of pepperoni, try it with a glass of Local Honey Cider; the sweet and salty combination is sure to please your taste buds.
