The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (Sept. 22–28)

September, where did you go? This month has come and gone, bringing the change of seasons and strong autumn feels. Now, to help you celebrate the fall season with cider, we bring you a brand-new version of The Double Tap List, our curated roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content that we discovered on Instagram over the past seven days.

So, dig into your closet to find those cute fall boots you’ve been itching to wear, and let’s start this season right! The #cider news from Instagram has us going up north to Canada for a cider festival, plus we also bring you news about cideries doing good deeds, and we share delicious cider & food pairings.

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from September 22-28:

Merridale Cidery & Distillery

We are crossing into the Great White North (Canada) this week, bringing you news of a harvest festival that has everyone talking: British Columbia’s very first craft cidery, Merridale Cider, presents its 2nd-Annual Cider Harvest Festival. This Sunday, September 30, join fellow cider-lovers from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. for a celebration of local cider from British Columbia. Left Field Cider and Twin Island Cider will be among the 15 cideries pouring their goods at the event. Your general admission ticket grants you six cider tastings and a cute souvenir glass. Pets and your designated drivers get in for free, so don’t leave home without them! Purchase your tickets to this event here.

Albemarle Ciderworks

That face says, “Pet me now, human!” Go find Speck (the “orchard pup”) at Albemarle Ciderworks in North Garden, Virginia and give him a good belly scratch for me. Then head into the cidery to hear some live music, featured every Saturday afternoon, while you enjoy some Arkansas Black, a dry cider with hints of tart to livin’ up your taste buds. Albemarle Ciderworks will also be hosting the Central Virginia Star Party this Saturday, September 29, where there will be telescope-observing and other hands-on astronomy activities going on, and of course cider tasting, too!

Lockhorn Hard Cider

So, it has almost become a weekly occurrence that we bring you news of upcoming cider festivals. It’s fall, so there is one right on the heels of the one before it, and we’re happy to keep bringing you all the festival news! One thing we don’t hear a lot about is what happens after the festival activities. Cider is awesome (clearly), but it still is an alcoholic drink we need to be responsible with, especially when it comes to driving. Lockhorn Cider is providing an amazing service to guests at its upcoming orchard party during this week’s Montana Cider Week — a free shuttle service. This complementary shuttle van will be available for all dinner guests at Lockhorn’s orchard party on Sunday, September 30. The folks at Lockhorn Cider not only know how to throw a good bash, but they also know how to take care of their customers. Well done, Lockhorn! #knowyourlimits

Whidbey Island Cider Festival

This Saturday, September 29, will mark the 2nd-Annual Whidbey Island Cider Festival in Washington state. The festival is hosted by the Pacific Rim Institute. Take in some scenic views as you sip on local Pacific Northwest cideries at this family-friendly event.  There will be activities for your kids, plenty of local food, and music to keep the party going. Locust Cider, Schilling Hard Cider and Finn River Farm & Cidery will all be on location. This is a rain-or-shine event, so you might want to pack an umbrella, just in case! For more information on this event, click here.

Austin Eastciders

I do love cider pairings, and Austin Eastciders has a fancy one on tap. Mark your calendars for October 10th as Austin Eastciders hosts another installment of its Collaboratory Pairing Series with Quack’s Bakery. This six-course pairing is centered on savory and sweet pastries, each paired with one of Austin Eastciders’ best cider varieties!  Each pastry was designed to pair perfectly with its designated Austin cider, which makes this a special event, indeed! There will also be a gift at the end of the event for all guests. Get your tickets here.

BONUS!!

Look deep into my eyes…and give me your cider, human! @whenpitsfly
