“Chopped” Winner Seeks Funding for Massachusetts Cidery

Past Chopped winner, chef and cider maker Nicholas Browne is asking cider lovers near and far to help him open up a Massachusetts cidery.

Chef Browne’s GoFundMe page hopes to raise $275,000 toward the startup phase of Browne Brewing Company, to be located in or near Monterey, Massachusetts. Funds raised will be used for legal/licensing fees, equipment, ingredients, refurbishment of the brewing space, a taproom and more.

Having created ciders in the past, including those made from heirloom apples from The Berkshires, Chef Browne is looking forward to acquiring the proper equipment and location needed to turn small batches into a much larger production opportunity. Initial plans are to produce 400–500 barrels per year to start, with eventual production increasing to 1,000–1,400 barrels per year within 5 years. Products will initially be sold onsite at the taproom and through local vendors before progressing to retail purveyors in the future.

Head to the Browne Brewing Company GoFundMe page to see how you can lend a hand!
