The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (Oct. 20–26)

Do you hear that murmur? That faint whisper that swirls through the sky and whisks by like falling leaves in the brisk autumn breeze? It’s the sound of October flying right by! The harvest season is quickly becoming only a memory now as we enter the final week of the month.

We honor the great memories this month has brought us with a brand-new version of The Double Tap List, our curated roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content that we discovered on Instagram over the past seven days. This week brings us more cider Halloween parties, fright nights and cider-sipping for a cause!

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from October 20–26:

Red Clay Ciderworks

Halloween is one of the best times of year to look at photos on Instagram because it is completely jam-packed with pet-lovers posting photos of their pooches in costume. The perfect opportunity to snap some photos of your furry buddy is at Northern California’s Red Clay Cider‘s 4th Annual Howl-O-Ween celebration this Saturday, October 27! From noon–7 p.m., join other pet-lovers and their pups as they parade into Red Clay adorning their Halloween best. The Doggie Costume Contest will kick off at 3 p.m., and if you want to earn some bonus points, you should coordinate your outfit with your pup (hint, hint!). There will be prizes, treats for your dog and plenty of puppy-watching! No puppy? No problem! Come in for a warm glass of mulled cider and enjoy the party anyway.

Urban Tree Cidery

For those of you in the Atlanta area, there is a Halloween party that you should all know about: On Saturday, October 27, head to the home of Atlanta’s first hard cider, Urban Tree, for a special Halloween bash. The cidery will be staying open late to keep this party going all night! Come in your best costume, because there will be a costume contest beginning at 9 p.m., and word on the street is that there will be prizes. If the cidery’s 11 ciders on tap are not doing it for you (which is next to impossible since they are all amazing!), then order up one of the event’s specialty cocktails to help get you in the Halloween spirit. Transylvania Twist, anyone?

Thor’s Hard Cider

Fun fact: Doughnuts pair well with literally everything. However, pairing one with a cider is the best combination, in my personal opinion. I wonder where you could get both a cider and a doughnut all in the same place? Oh, wait! I know! Thor’s Hard Cider just happens to make warm, fluffy apple cinnamon sugar doughnuts right on its farm. Aamodt’s Apple Farm in Stillwater, Minnesota is home to Thor’s Hard Cider and fourth-generation apple farmers. The family prides themselves on clean, authentic cider — no fuss, no muss, just plain good cider. Fresh food is always available at the farm kitchen, so if your sweet tooth isn’t hankering for a fix, try one of Aamodt’s famous apple brats! Thor’s Cider is available at the farm seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lost Valley Cider Co.

When October arrives, it means all of us scary movie fans can binge on horror movies with reckless abandon and no one will judge us for our weird affinity for The Shining. (The hallway scene with the twin girls gets me every time!) If you love scary movies as much as me, then hopefully you were at Lost Valley Cider‘s event on Thursday, October 25! Lost Valley teamed up with Seattle Cider Company to host a double-feature movie night at its Milwaukee cidery. Double the fright during a cold, autumn night! Complimentary pizza was on hand to pair with a pour of Lost Valley’s Cranberry Crush, or a fright flight from Seattle Cider Company. It sounds like it was a frightfully good time to me!

Tap and Putt

Dear Vienna,

All of us here at Cider Culture would like to say that your company really is amazing for hosting your Thursday fundraising nights each week at Tap and Putt to help benefit the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society. Giving a $1 donation for every drink you sell is really helping those animals that need it so much. How fun it must be for you to get to meet all of those people coming in for a drink and to play some mini golf! Do you get lots of belly rubs from all of the patrons? I bet you get a lot of traffic each Thursday, because who doesn’t love trivia?! We appreciate what you do each week and we wish you success!

(P.S. Have a glass of Schilling Cider Lumberjack for us!)
