The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (Sept. 2–8)

TGIF, cider lovers, and doubly this week! As counterintuitive as it may seem, weeks that start with a Monday holiday always seem to drag. Speaking of holidays, seems like the #cidernation had a ton of fun celebrating a long weekend with some mellow weather, quality outdoor hangs and, of course, no shortage of tasty food and beverages.

On a more serious note, it’s been a heavy few weeks in both the online and real worlds, with Texas still recovering after the havoc and destruction of Hurricane Harvey and Florida bracing for Irma. There’s also been the distressing news from the White House regarding the future of Dreamers in this country. We don’t often use this platform to wax political, but we’re heartened to see so many small craft cideries making statements, donating to causes they believe in and generally just being upstanding, engaged citizens.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled content: Check out some of favorite #cider ‘grams from the week!

Austin Eastciders

Happy #LaborDay! Cool off with a Blood Orange Shandy – swap the lemonade for lemon sorbet for an icy treat! #eastciders

A post shared by Austin Eastciders (@eastciders) on

Sure, Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer, but that doesn’t mean our ice cream cravings have dried up. On the contrary! Breezy autumnal weather is as good a time as any to enjoy a frosty scoop, improved even more in a blood orange cider shandy, as suggested by the smarties at Austin Eastciders.

Cider Riot!

While we’re not always fans of goofy fonts, we’ll never tire of that excited, scribble-y DIY show flyer font that Portland’s Cider Riot! uses so well on its label design and glassware. The punk puns keep coming—The Pit? Slam Dance? Come on, you know you’re smiling! Also, and for real: dry peach and apricot cider sounds supremely good.

Downeast Cider

There’s something so appealing about this photo from Boston-based Downeast Cider. You can almost smell the fresh air through the warehouse door, and the kegs and the person in the center frame remind us how many hands and how much labor it actually takes to make cider. There’s also that magical rainbow action in the right of the photo that seems almost too good to be true!

New Day Craft

Did you get to go to Meadful Things & Outciders Fest last weekend? From all that we saw on social media, it looked like a rocking good time in Indy (dang, there were a lot of awesome vendors there!). Many props to New Day Craft for organizing and helping share the cider and mead love in the Midwest.

Potter’s Craft Cider

Are you kidding us? A freaking cider Airstream? What will you crazy kids think of next? This groovy “Ciderstream” from Potter’s Craft Cider is seriously tempting us to pack our bags right now for a Virginia cider-drinking expedition. You can find more info about this retrofitted Airstream here.

Sunday Cider

Sizzling hot day to keg cider for the upcoming Summer Sizzler on Sept 16th! . . . . . #craftcider

A post shared by Sunday Cider (@sundaycider) on

Come on, if we can’t have fun making and drinking cider—what’s the point? We’re loving this wild-style, wide-smile moment from the Patrick at Sunday Cider … very “mad scientist,” as someone noted in the comments. Cheers to cider-y joy!
