The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (September 8–14)

Friday has arrived and we’re excited to celebrate the end of a long workweek with a brand-new version of The Double Tap List, our curated roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content that we discovered on Instagram over the past seven days. What a week it has been — and, for some of us, the work is far from over, with the arrival of Hurricane Florence on the East Coast today. For those affected, our thoughts are with you! Stay safe!

Other cider-related news on tap this week: We’re remembering September 11th, talking about drinkable cider donuts (yes, I said “drinkable”), and we’re celebrating the soon-to-happen arrival of a cider baby.

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from September 8-14:

Bold Rock Mills River

It was a somber Tuesday for our nation this past week as we remembered the 17th anniversary of the tragedy that occurred on September 11th, 2001. Bold Rock and other cideries took time to remember the anniversary on their Instagram accounts and social media feeds. We will never forget. Thank you, Bold Rock, for this tribute!

1911 Spirits

“ERRRR!” Hit the brakes! Are you seeing what I’m seeing? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that is, in fact, a Cider Donut Hard Cider. They are making liquid donuts over at 1911 Established Spirits, and we’re pretty excited about this! This premium small batch cider is all the rage on Instagram, and #ciderfans are scrambling to get their hands on a can or two. The lucky ducks who have managed to get a sip of this delicious-donut-wonder, are describing the taste as being “pure apple, with an amazing melody of apple pie spice.” I already know what everyone will be searching for this weekend!

Star Cidery

We want to send out a big congratulations to the owners of Star Cidery on the news about their upcoming arrival: A cider baby is on the way and we are so excited for them! The wheels have not stopped churning, though, at Star Cider’s New York cidery. They have been hard at work, stocking up on some of their finished products, including their flagship Five Point cider, made from a blend of bittersweet and dessert apples locally grown, and the naturally tart Forever Wild, made with rare, wild apples. We wish you well on this upcoming season and with your new bundle of joy!

THURSDAY TRIVIA CANCELLED ?

A post shared by Bull City Ciderworks (@bullcityciderworks) on

It seems that with every passing week Mother Nature likes to throw our cider community a new curveball. As we write this, Hurricane Florence is pounding the Carolinas with its wrath. Bull City Ciderworks was taking no chances Thursday evening, as they planned to close their Durham taproom early in light of the impending storm. Please keep the people of the Carolinas, and everyone in Florence’s path, in your thoughts during this weekend, and please consider giving to the Red Cross relief effort to help those whose lives will be affected by this storm.

Red Clay Ciderworks

Charlotte, North Carolina’s Red Clay Ciderworks wanted to keep the mood light with this funny Instagram post regarding the hurricane. They recognize that you probably stocked up on too much bread, water, batteries, and 2% milk. But, did you grab any cider during your supermarket raid?! Red Clay’s Charlotte taproom plans to be open for their regular hours during the storm. So, if you need an escape and you are able to leave your house safely, consider joining the fun people over at Red Clay for their “Hurricane Party.” Seriously, though, please be safe out there, #ciderfans and everyone!
