The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (Oct. 13–19)

The air outside is intoxicating, with fresh fall aromas which have us all grinning ear to ear. But wait — why are you still sitting at your computer indoors? Oh, right! It’s still Friday and we are all at the office. Keep smiling, though, because we have great events coming up this weekend in our cider community!

Pass the time with this brand-new version of The Double Tap List, our curated roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content that we discovered on Instagram over the past seven days. This week’s #cider happenings on Instagram are all about two-stepping it in Texas, finding fall flings in New York and a enjoying very puppy “Bull-O-Ween.”

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from October 13–19:

OSB Ciderworks

Who is ready to kick off this weekend with a cider bash? OSB Ciderworks is inviting everyone to its Fall Fling on Saturday, October 20, for a day full of fall fun. Come celebrate the tapping of fall ciders, including Gangstas Pearadise and Hold The Crust Apple Pie. Starting at noon, you can sip on cider and wander through the glass pumpkin patch created by artist Elijiah Smith. The band Bloodroots will take the stage at 4 p.m. Plan your day accordingly, because OSB Ciderworks will be open until 9 p.m. You have no excuse not to head to its Lakeville, NY taproom this weekend!

There is a new cidery on the block in Lincoln, Nebraska. Saro Cider is hosting its grand opening this weekend! Starting on Friday, October 19, Saro will be celebrating with drink specials, live music and food trucks. If you can’t make the festivities on Friday, join in on Saturday for Cider Bloody Marys and football. The party continues all the way through Sunday, with an apple-pressing and tasty treats for the whole family! Welcome to the cider community, Saro!

Argus Cidery

Argus Cidery was one of the speakers at the “Meet the Maker” event held at the Cookbook Bar & Cafe in Austin, Texas on Thursday, October 18. From 6 to 8:30 p.m., attendees of the Texas Cider Makers panel were treated to an evening of knowledge from the brains behind not only Argus Cidery, but also Austin Eastciders, Fairweather Cider and Texas Keeper Cider. The event was part of Texas Cookbook Month and a series of panels held weekly at Cookbook Bar, featuring game-changers in the Texas beverage industry. Panelists discussed their stories of challenge and triumph since their companies’ inceptions. The event concluded with a cider-tasting experience where guests were served complimentary samples of cider from each participating cidery, and they were also able to meet some of the best Texas cidermakers.

Leonard Oakes Estate Winery & Steam Punk Cider

There is something hypnotizing about watching this apple spiral fold into itself! Leonard Oakes Estate Winery has some cheesy goodness up its sleeve, as it prepares for the opening of Buffalo’s first cider-centric establishment in Buffalo, New York: Bar Cultivar. Home of Steam Punk Cider, Leonard Oakes’ new establishment will feature … get ready for it … cheese washed in cider. (If you aren’t excited for this opening to happen, then there is no pleasing you!) Cheese and cider spell success!
