Being knees-deep in festivals and harvest parties can only mean one thing: Hello, October! Your arrival could not be more welcomed! We kick off this new month with, of course, a brand-new version of The Double Tap List, our curated roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content that we discovered on Instagram over the past seven days.
Who is ready to plan a festival-filled weekend? Well, you are in luck! This week’s #cidernews on Instagram has us heading out to the orchard to enjoy an Oktoberfest with a feast, we welcome new cider puppies to our community, and we’ll be sampling some ciders on this cool October weekend.
Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from September 29-October 5:
Sacramento’s Farm to Fork Festival was a huge success last weekend, as locals swarmed upon the annual event at Sacramento’s Capitol Mall. Hemly Cider helped to keep the party going, serving up two special releases. Farm to Fork is a free annual event, which helps to bring together the community’s brewers, cider makers, farmers, and friends and helps showcase the abundance of amazing food in this Northern California region. The family-friendly event included an all-day music lineup, cooking demonstrations, plus plenty of food and drinks! Well done and kudos on another successful year!
We’ve got a new cider dog on the block! Everyone, meet Roo! Roo is an adorable cider pup who enjoys keg delivery, supervising the cider production, and being told that he is a good boy! When off duty, we can imagine Roo likes to kick back with the rest of his Legend Cider crew and romp around out in the great Pacific Northwest. 13/10 Adorable Cider Pup 10/10 Would give him extra back scratches! Welcome to the family, Roo!
The 6th Annual Cider Fest NC is coming up Saturday, October 13, in Asheville, North Carolina, and we are pumped! This premiere event features tastings of hard cider, mead, and apple wine from local and national producers, including Good Road Cider, Fox Hill Meadery, and Flat Rock Ciderworks. Other vendors include local cheese companies, food trucks, artisanal foods (I’m looking at you, Underground Baking Company), and tons of music! The event serves as a fundraiser for the nonprofit Green Built Alliance, so come out and help support the effort, one glass of cider at a time! Get your tickets here.
Come out Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7, for the 7th Annual Colorado Cider Guild Hard Cider Tasting at the Lakewood Cider Days. From 12 noon-4:00 p.m., be there to enjoy a selection of over 50 hard cider varieties! This family-friendly event features tons of entertainment for everyone, with plenty of exhibitors, vendors and, of course, seasonal treats! Watch an apple pressing session, Annie’s Baking Challenge, or just sip on a good ol’ glass of cider! For more information on this event, click here.
Brooklyn Cider House is at it again, bringing us another great event that you just can’t miss! Head out to Twin Star Orchard in New Paltz, New York this weekend (Oct. 6, 7 and 8) for Oktoberfest at the Orchard. The taps will be flowing with the orchard’s signature Brooklyn Cider, and the grill will be going nonstop each day. Raise your hand if you enjoy sausage! I’m imagining a lot of hands just went up in the air, and that’s a good thing, because there will be a constant flow of five different sausages, German sauerkraut, and other cookout favorites to help feed the thirsty cider crowd at Oktoberfest at the Orchard. Join the party from 12 noon until 5 p.m. this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday! (Yes, we said Monday, too! It’s Columbus Day, so take advantage of the extra day off!)
Be like Frank. Be a stickler for quality … and cuteness! @sillymoocider
