The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (August 18–24)

Allow me to welcome you to the most amazing moment this week: The arrival of Friday! You have worked so hard to get to this day, and now, it is time to celebrate!

We are celebrating the end of the workweek the only way we know how — with a brand-new version of The Double Tap List, our curated roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content that we discovered on Instagram over the past seven days. This busy week on Instagram brought lots of news from the cider world, including job openings, farm tours, and Hurricane Lane.

Check out some of our favorite ‘grams from August 18–24:

Heartwood Farm & Cidery

I love finding quaint places to visit on the weekend, and I think I may have found a new one! Heartwood Farm & Cidery looks like it is the epitome of country life. Nestled in Southern Ontario, Heart Wood brings you back to the humbleness of country living: a charming 42-acre farm, with farm animals and orchards of fruit and nut trees to help you reconnect to the nature that surrounds you. Heartwood offers farm tours during its store hours, for those of you who are fascinated with how a farm system functions and how every aspect of this life is connected to the next. Best of all, though, Heartwood is known for its delicious small-batch ciders! Using ingredients grown right on the farm — from the apples in the orchard to the sticky maple syrup drawn straight from its own trees — sipping Heartwood’s ciders is like taking in a sip of some true country living. Take some time out of your Saturday and head on over to the Heartwood Farm to see and experience this Canadian hidden gem.

Paradise Ciders

The spirit of the people of Hawaii is strong, and even the news of a rare impending hurricane isn’t enough to make them flinch. For those prepping for Hurricane Lane, Paradise Ciders had an ingenious use for all of those cider growlers you have started to collect: Fill them with fresh water, so you have water to get you through the storm and the aftermath to follow. Great idea, Paradise Ciders! As we write and publish this, the Red Cross is also making preparations for Hurricane Lane, mobilizing volunteers, equipment and supplies in the wake of what has developed into a dangerous storm. Please visit the Red Cross’s website to see how you can help the effort with Hurricane Lane relief, because every donation, no matter how small, will be able to help someone in need.

Ridge Cider Co.

I love great wall art, don’t you? Especially in craft cideries, like the mural I saw inside Portland Cider’s Clackamas location last fall. Well, I found a new mural that I love at a cidery you might not know about: Ridge Cider Co. is a Michigan craft cidery on the rise. It has plenty of new ciders rotating on the taps at its tasting room, like Summer Squeeze, with its fresh peach nose and citrus notes. Take a moment out of your weekend to enjoy a sip of pure Michigan apple bliss! Can’t make it to the taproom? Don’t worry! You can find every location where Ridge Cider is sold here.

The cider will be pouring all afternoon in Kelowna, B.C. on Saturday, September 22, from 1—4 p.m., so mark your calendars now! Live music will keep the party lively as you walk among the much-anticipated cideries that will be in attendance, including Sea Cider, Howling Moon Cider House and Twisted Hills Craft Cider. Tickets provide each attendee with a glass and five tastings from each of the fine craft cider vendors. Will you be attending this event as a designated driver?
