The Double Tap List: The Best of #Cider on Instagram (Jan. 27–Feb. 2)

Friday is finally here, #ciderlovers! Let’s hear it for another great week!

The arrival of Friday means it’s time for a new version of The Double Tap List, our roundup of the most notable and like-worthy cider content on Instagram. The #ciderworld was full of activity this week, with Baltimore’s Cider Con, great love stories and puppy-friendly cideries!

Check out some of our favorites from January 27–February 2:

#cidercon2018 Cider Share is on!!!

This week was a big one for the cider community with CiderCon 2018 going down in Baltimore!  The annual conference, held this year at the Waterfront Marriott in downtown Baltimore, from January 30–February 2, is shaping up to be a huge success!  Hosted by USACM, the conference has been an amazing opportunity for the cider community to gather together to share ideas and connect. There has been too much going on at CiderCon to recap here (though you can see our highlights from the first few days here and here). One of the most fun moments was the Cider Share on Wednesday afternoon, when cider makers from across the world poured samples of their wares for the thirsty crowd.

Pour the Core Baltimore

… And just when you thought the cider festivities were over in Baltimore (insert sad face HERE), Pour the Core arrives to keep the party going! The event will be hosted at the B&O Railroad Museum on February 2 from 7–10:30 p.m. For $50, guests can enjoy selections from Eden Specialty Ciders, Graft Cider, Austin Eastciders and Angry Orchard. Admission includes a 5-ounce souvenir tasting cup and the freedom to enjoy 2-ounce samples from any cider maker. Attendees can also sit in on free festival seminars and have access to the museum’s various exhibits. If you are interested in attending this exciting event, tickets will not be available at the door. You have been warned, #ciderfans.

Square Mile Cider

Great-cause alert! Square Mile Cider, located in Portland, Oregon, will be donating a portion of sales from every case of cider sold to Solve Oregon, to help regrow native trees in their beautiful state. Through Earth Day (April 22nd), fellow cider lovers can help Square Mile achieve its goal of helping to regrow areas of the state’s vast wilderness that needs new life. What a delicious way to give back! Go here to find where you can purchase your case of Square Mile Cider.

Right Bee Cider

Cuteness alert! Right Bee Cider … get it? This pun-named cidery’s post warmed my heart so much. Right Bee Cider, located in Chicago, Illinois, was founded in 2014 by Charlie Davis and Katie Morgan, a husband-and-wife duo whose story is just too cute: The first cidery in Chicago, Right Bee Cider, started as a gesture from Charlie, a professional brewer, to woo Katie, who would become his future wife and future business partner. Pretty great story, right? For more on Right Bee’s Cider and its available selection, click here. (Also, a shout-out to Charlie for leading us to Max’s Taphouse and putting up with our antics on Wednesday evening.)

Pivot Brewing Company

Ladies and gentlemen, a word of marketing advice for anyone interested in opening or currently operating a cidery: Dog-friendly is the way to go! I might be a little biased, because I enjoy petting everyone’s dogs when I go out for a pint. However, I believe having both a dog- and human-friendly business equals success! Grab your fur-baby and take a trip to Pivot Brewing Company to try its Gingham, a cider that’s rich in strawberry flavor, described as “sorbet you can drink,” or its Smokey the Pear. A night full of puppies and cider sounds like a good night to me!
